America's Cup Sailing Experience
(10-120 people - off site)
Experience San Diego's breathtaking bay and the city's dramatic skyline. Discover and explore America's Finest City on the scenic bay aboard one of the most recognized boats in sailing - the America, Stars & Stripes or Abracadabra. Provide your group an experience that is truly unique to San Diego. Depending on the size and unique needs of the event, a custom menu of sailing and food pairings will make your outing exceptional and memorable. The groups can relax and enjoy a day on the bay. Or, for a more competitive experience, members of your groups can take the controls and race head-to-head in a true America's Cup style race with the winner having bragging rights to your cup.
The "America" is a 139' replica of the yacht that established the America's Cup race in 1870. Or, for an adrenaline pumping, competitive event, sail aboard one of the current generation ‘International America's Cup Class' racing yachts - "Stars & Stripes" and/or "Abracadabra". The yachts are available for groups from 10 up to 120 guests. Both public tours and private charters are available, subject to availability.
In addition to the experience, your journey can be enhanced by a variety of personalized appointments, including a private dining experience with Mark Kropczynski, Executive Chef of THE US GRANT, a Luxury Collection Hotel. Chef Mark and his team will personally prepare and serve the meal for your event on board the America. Or, an appearance by Dennis Connor, four time America's Cup winning skipper. Some restrictions apply.
Team Building that Makes a Difference
"Literacy Builders" is an inspirational team building activity that creates an activity and helps the local community within San Diego. Most of the reading problems faced by today's adolescents and adults could have been avoided or resolved in their early childhood years. In this activity, participants work in teams to help provide an environment that fosters motivation for and exposure to literacy by building and stocking bookshelves that will be donated to a school in the local community.
During this two-hour activity, teams are tasked with completing 3 literary-themed challenges (Word Wizardry, Book Race, and Character Match) designed to earn teams the items necessary to build a bookshelf. Teams race against the clock to complete their tasks and then to build a high quality bookshelf for local children in need of a better library and literacy-encouraging environment.
An additional challenge groups can take on is a "Book Drive" which results in a donation of books to fill the assembled bookshelves. This can be billed as a competition, or simply a company-wide effort for the good of the community. A representative from the school benefitting from the activity can be present to accept the donation and thank the group for their teamwork in completing these wonderful bookshelves that will be put to great use for years to come!
